About

40 years qualified with more than 20 years current experience in Healthcare Design and Planning that includes space utilization, estate control planning / development control planning (includes master planning and phasing), brief development/client needs analysis, full design, procurement and contract management, full client advisory service including development of business. Michael has also extensive experience of PFI projects both as Client Advisor and as Lead Architect, designing for education, administration, and public amenity facilities until moving into Private Practice in 1990 and concentrating in speculating in the Healthcare and public-health sector.

Recent projects include Saudi Airlines 400 bed Hospital in Jeddah, KSA, Al Murjan 200 Bed Hospital in Jeddah-KSA, Al Mouwasat 200 bed hospital in Dhahran-KSA, Al Sabah 600 bed Hospital in Kuwait, NHS funded Secure Mental health care project in UK and the women’s unit at RamptonHospital, UK.

Work as PFI Project Client Advisor includes: Bradford Hospitals NHS Trust (£192m), University Hospitals Leicester (£705m) with University component, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals – New Ward Block (£30m), North Staffs NHS – Acute Services Mental Hospital(£11m), Oxlease NHS – Mental Health Unit (£6m).

Prestigious non PFI schemes include; Chesterfield Divisional Police Headquarters, Chesterfield central Library (RIBA award winner), Spinal Injuries Unit for the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, The Oncology Centre for Leicester Royal Infirmary, Aden and Hudeideh 350 beds teaching hospitals in Yemen, and the Basra Oncology hospital in Iraq.

Since 2011, Michael has been acting within HDP (Overseas) as principle healthcare architect and planner in the UK and Middle East.
